The Hudson Valley offers myriad choices when it comes to housing. Historic homes overlooking the water. Quaint farmhouses on rural roads. Urban lofts and apartments. Great starter houses in family-friendly neighborhoods. Condos on the golf course.

As anywhere, costs vary greatly depending on the location, type and size of house. The rule of thumb? The further away from New York City, the lower the housing costs in the Hudson Valley. For a region where the average per capita income is over $37,000 per year, housing costs are quite reasonable.
