Information Technology
Dynamic Information Technology Cluster
From industry giants to fast-growing small businesses, the Hudson Valley is home to thousands of software firms, computer system designers, Internet service providers,

networking firms, telecommunications and other information technology companies. Few places on the planet have the breadth and depth of IT firms.

IBM World HQ and More
IBM, the world's leading information technology company, has been headquartered in Armonk for most of its nearly 100 years of existence and now employs more than 20,000 people in the Hudson Valley. The company’s Thomas J. Watson Research Center is regarded as the largest industrial research center in the world, with the main laboratory in Yorktown Heights and two facilities in Hawthorne. In addition, the IBM Business Continuity and Recovery Service Center in Sterling Forest protects Fortune 500 companies, banks and Wall Street giants in case of a disaster.

Robust Business Environment
With more than 100 Fortune 500 firms and its close proximity to
New York City, the Hudson Valley offers IT companies a wealth of potential clients.  New York's fastest growing counties are located in
the Hudson Valley, also fueling demand for IT services.  Little wonder that Verizon Wireless has a major Information Technology Center in Orangeburg and that Nokia established corporate headquarters for its Enterprise Solutions business group in Harrison.

Brain Power
More than 30 colleges and universities in the region turn out a steady stream of well-educated employees.  The Information Technology Department at Marist College and School of Computer Science and Information Systems at Pace University are among the region's top programs, but Hudson Valley companies attract some of the best minds from around the world. As a result, the region consistently outpaces other parts of the country in the number of patents issued by the U.S. Patent Office.
